Officials in the Herat Directorate of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock announce an increase of 15% of sunflower seeds in the current solar year in this province.
Bashir Ahmad Ahmadi, Director of Promotion of the Herat Agriculture Directorate, says that in the current year, more than 400 hectares of land were planted under sunflower seeds and 500 metric tons of sunflower seeds were harvested.
The Directorate of Promotion of the Herat Agriculture Directorate adds that due to sufficient water and suitable weather, planting sunflower seeds in the districts of Anjil, Gazre, Karkh, Pashtun Zarghun and a number of other districts of this province gives good yields.
According to the Directorate of Promotion of the Herat Agriculture Directorate, the price for every four kilogram of raw sunflower seeds is 250 Afghani and it has a good market in this province.
It is said that sunflower seeds in Herat, due to having a good external market and high oil percentage, have attracted many buyers.
