One Nation, One Pain, One Hope

The earthquake that struck Kunar did more than destroy homes, it shook the very soul of Afghanistan. The cries of children, the grief of mothers, the tears of fathers mourning their lost sons and daughters, and the dust rising from shattered villages pierced the conscience of a nation. In moments like these, the unmistakable truth comes out : who heals, and who abandons?

While a few countries provided aid, the real support came from Afghans themselves. Once again, the people proved that the true pillar of this nation is its own citizens, not foreign powers.

Foundations like Azizi and Alkozai turned despair into hope for thousands of families. Their rapid, selfless response showed that when Afghans stand together, there is no need to knock on foreign doors.

Compassion flowed from every corner of the country. Brave people from Khost sent convoys. Heratis extended their hands in solidarity. In Panjshir, people shared the suffering of their fellow citizens as their own. From Balkh, Nangarhar, Zabul, and beyond, trucks carried relief to brothers and sisters in Kunar. These acts proved a timeless truth: When united, the Afghan people can build an unbreakable wall of courage against any disaster.

Equally inspiring were the bravery and sacrifice of Afghan pilots and commando forces. Facing dangerous terrain and extreme conditions, they rescued the wounded and pulled hope from the rubble. Their actions sent a message to the world: an Afghan’s strongest refuge is another Afghan.

These examples of courage, dignity, and unity must guide our future. Real strength lies not in foreign aid, but in solidarity, in hands extended, hearts shared, and communities united.

And yet, painful lessons remain. If we had not turned weapons on our own people, if we had not destroyed our own planes, and if the helicopters that once fled abroad during the collapse of the previous government were still here, they could have been flying life-saving missions in Kunar today. This tragedy is not only nature’s doing, it is a reminder of the costs of internal failure and disunity.

One nation, one pain, one hope. If Afghans stand together, no calamity, natural or self-inflicted, can break them. Afghanistan’s resilience is found not in what it receives from others, but in what it gives to one another.
