The Government of India, through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and the Ministry of External Affairs, has announced 1,000 scholarships for Afghan students to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate courses online for the academic year 2025-26.
Under the Special Scholarship Scheme for Afghan Nationals (SSSAN), Afghan students can enroll in a wide range of disciplines through the e-VidyaBharati (e-VB) i-learn portal, enabling them to study at Indian universities and institutes while remaining in Afghanistan. This initiative is part of India’s ongoing commitment to support Afghan youth, enhance skill development, and foster academic and cultural exchanges between the two nations.
The 2025-26 e-scholarships continue the SSSAN program, which has successfully enabled hundreds of Afghan students to pursue higher education online in previous years, despite challenges posed by limited mobility and restricted access to global educational resources.
Application Details:
Portal: e-VidyaBharati (e-VB) i-learn
Application Period: September 1 to September 6, 2025
Support: Detailed guidelines and a user manual are available on the portal to assist applicants
The scholarships aim to provide Afghan students with international-quality education remotely, ensuring continuity in their academic ambitions and promoting inclusive access to higher education. By offering these opportunities, India strengthens its educational ties with Afghanistan and reinforces its commitment to the future of Afghan youth.
