Afghanistan’s national cricket team captain and international star Rashid Khan visited the Nangarhar Provincial Hospital today during his trip to the province to check on the health of those injured in the Kunar earthquake.
According to a press release from the Taliban’s media office in Nangarhar, Rashid Khan arrived in the country today from the United Arab Emirates and, following the memorial ceremony for his late elder brother, visited the Nangarhar Provincial Hospital to inquire about the earthquake victims.
The press release adds that Mr. Khan prayed for forgiveness for those who died in the recent earthquake and for the speedy recovery of the injured, assuring that necessary assistance would be provided to the earthquake-affected people.
It is worth noting that Rashid Khan has also launched an online fundraising campaign for the earthquake victims in the eastern provinces, aiming to raise 250,000 euros, which will be distributed to the affected families once collected.
The devastating earthquake on Sunday night last week killed 2,205 people, including women and children, injured 3,640 others, and destroyed or partially destroyed around 7,000 residential homes in Kunar province alone.
