The Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, in continuation of imposing restrictions on citizens, has banned wearing “short coats” or “shirts with trousers” in public and private universities.
Sources confirmed that this order has been sent to universities in written form and communicated to students through professors.
According to sources, the Taliban have warned professors and students that if they disregard this order, they will first receive a warning, and in the next stage, they will face serious consequences.
A student in Kabul told:
“Our professor entered the class and said that from today you must wear more Afghan-style clothes — meaning long shirts, coats, and trousers — and wear white caps on your heads.”
This student also added:
“The professor said your beard should be no longer and no shorter than a fist length. Don’t cut your hair too much, don’t wear shaded glasses, and don’t adopt Western styles. Those who make fun of the Taliban’s conditions will not be tolerated.”
The Taliban had previously, both orally and in writing, prohibited students from wearing short clothing, jeans, and Western-style outfits.
This group has also obligated students and professors to wear long shirts, coats, and white caps.
