OpenAI has announced that the group chat capability in ChatGPT has been publicly activated and is now accessible to all users worldwide.
The feature first became limited to a small group last week, and after receiving positive feedback, it was released to the public today.
With this new feature, users can create a common conversation and invite their significant other such as friends, family, or colleagues. The groups operate independently of private chats and according to an official statement by OpenAI, the group owner’s personal information and memory will never be displayed or shared with other group members.
You don’t have to do complex work to create a group chat in ChatGPT. In any new conversation or even previous chats, just tap the People icon in the top corner of the screen. After you create a group, you will receive an invite link that can be sent to others. Anyone who has this link can also invite more people.
Each group has a maximum capacity of 20 people, and to avoid crowding, the group chat section will be displayed in a separate section of the side tape so that it is not mixed with private messages.
What can be done with this ability?
▪ Planning group trips
▪ Conducting joint projects and research
▪ Writing and editing documents collectively
▪ Team brainstorming and creativity sessions
▪ Resolving disputes with the help of artificial intelligence
