Located within your account settings, this feature keeps a detailed log of your viewed Reels. Its true power lies in its robust sorting and filtering capabilities, as explained by Adam Mosseri. You can:
Sort by Date: View your history from oldest to newest, or vice versa.
Filter by Date Range: Narrow down your search to a specific day, week, or month.
Filter by Creator: If you remember who posted the Reel but not the content itself, you can filter the list to show only videos from that specific creator.
This means even a vague memory of a Reel—”I think it was that baker I follow last week…”—is often enough to track it down.
Accessing your watch history is a straightforward process. Just follow these steps:
Open Your Profile: Tap your profile picture in the bottom right corner of the Instagram app.
Access the Menu: Tap the three-line menu (☰) in the top right corner.
Go to Settings: Scroll down and select “Settings and privacy.”
Navigate to Your Activity: In the “How you use Instagram” section, tap “Your Activity.”
Tap Watch History: You will see several options like “Time spent,” “Photos and videos,” and finally, “Watch History.” Select it.
