OpenAI Reaches $12 Billion in Annualized Revenue, Report Says

San Francisco, July 30, 2025 – OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has reportedly doubled its revenue in the first seven months of 2025, reaching an annualized revenue of $12 billion, according to a report by The Information on Wednesday.

While Reuters could not independently verify the report, and OpenAI declined to comment, the numbers suggest that the company is now generating approximately $1 billion in monthly revenue. The report also stated that OpenAI’s ChatGPT products attract around 700 million weekly active users, spanning both individual consumers and enterprise clients.

Backed by Microsoft, OpenAI has reportedly increased its cash burn forecast to $8 billion for 2025, up from an earlier estimate of $7 billion.

The company is also in the process of raising the second $30 billion portion of its funding round. Notably, major shareholders such as Sequoia Capital and Tiger Global Management are said to be investing hundreds of millions of dollars in this round.

The report added that investors — excluding Japan’s SoftBank — are close to securing $7.5 billion in commitments for this latest funding effort.

SoftBank’s total investment in OpenAI has reportedly reached $32 billion since it began backing the company in autumn 2024.
