Liverpool Set to Offload Darwin Nunez to Al-Hilal Amid Transfer Reshuffle

Saudi club set to sign Uruguay striker for €53 million as Liverpool eyes Alexander Isak

Transfer Details

  • Darwin Nunez, who joined Liverpool from Benfica three years ago for an initial €75 million ($87m / £65m), is now on the verge of a transfer to Saudi club Al-Hilal, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
  • Al-Hilal will reportedly pay an initial €53 million for the 26-year-old striker.

Nunez’s Decline at Anfield

  • Despite scoring 40 goals in 143 appearances, Nunez has struggled to justify his price tag and has gradually fallen out of favor under both Jurgen Klopp and new manager Arne Slot.
  • His playing time was expected to decrease further following Liverpool’s recent signings, including:
    • Hugo Ekitike
    • Florian Wirtz
    • Milos Kerkez
    • Jeremie Frimpong
  • The club has reportedly spent over €300 million this transfer window.

Liverpool Eyes Isak

  • Nunez’s departure could free up funds for Liverpool to make a record-breaking bid for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.
  • Newcastle is reportedly demanding up to £150 million for the Swedish forward, which would break the British transfer record.

Transfer Income and Further Departures

  • The sale of Nunez would bring Liverpool’s transfer income this window close to €200 million, following the exits of:
    • Luis Diaz
    • Jarell Quansah
    • Caoimhin Kelleher
    • Trent Alexander-Arnold
    • Tyler Morton
  • Harvey Elliott is also attracting attention, with RB Leipzig reportedly preparing a bid. Liverpool wants at least €45 million for the 21-year-old England international.

Al-Hilal’s Growing Power

  • Al-Hilal, coached by Simone Inzaghi, recently made headlines by eliminating Manchester City to reach the Club World Cup quarter-finals.
  • The club already boasts an impressive lineup, including:
    • Ruben Neves
    • Joao Cancelo
    • Kalidou Koulibaly
    • Aleksandar Mitrovic
