Autumn Cup Volleyball Tournament Kicks Off in Logar, Aims to Uncover National Talent

LOGAR PROVINCE – The provincial capital of Logar came alive with sportive energy this week as the highly anticipated “Autumn Cup” volleyball tournament officially launched. Organized by the Logar Physical Education and Sports Department, the competition has drawn leading teams from across multiple provinces, marking a significant event in the regional sporting calendar.

The opening ceremony underscored the tournament’s ambitious goals: to popularize volleyball among youth, foster stronger sports cooperation between provinces, and, crucially, to scout and nurture the next generation of athletic talent for the national stage.

In an exclusive statement to Pajhwok Afghan News, Eng. Muzamil Naeemzai, the head of the organizing department, emphasized the event’s strategic importance. “The Autumn Cup is more than just a competition; it is a vital platform for discovery,” he said. “We are meticulously observing players and evaluating team dynamics to identify those with the potential to excel in national tournaments and bring honor to their communities.”

The tournament is set to be a prolonged showcase of skill and endurance, with a schedule stretching nearly two months. The opening day set a compelling precedent for the matches to come. In a thrilling inaugural face-off, the Sohail Malangyar team secured a decisive 3–1 victory over the Logar Youth team, much to the delight of a spirited crowd.

Officials anticipate that the daily matches will galvanize local communities, drawing strong attendance and fan engagement not only in Logar but across all participating provinces. The event is seen as a catalyst for reviving local sports culture and providing healthy entertainment.

To ensure a highly competitive atmosphere and incentivize excellence, significant rewards have been established. The tournament organizers have allocated substantial cash prizes along with formal appreciation certificates for the teams that clinch first, second, and third place. This reward system is designed to motivate peak performance and encourage the formation of stronger, more cohesive teams capable of succeeding in future, higher-level competitions.

The Autumn Cup promises to be a defining event, highlighting the power of sports to unite communities and pave pathways for aspiring athletes in Afghanistan.
