Chicago – Manchester United secured their second consecutive win in the Premier League Summer Series preseason tournament with a dominant 4-1 victory over Bournemouth at Soldier Field on Wednesday night.
Goals from Rasmus Hojlund, Patrick Dorgu, Amad Diallo, and teenager Ethan Williams sealed a confident performance for manager Ruben Amorim’s side, despite rainy and windy conditions.
United took control early, with Hojlund heading home a precise cross from Dorgu in the 8th minute. Dorgu added a second in the 25th minute, finishing a quick free kick from Mason Mount with style.
Diallo extended the lead in the 53rd minute, and substitute Williams made an immediate impact, scoring just two minutes after coming on to make it 4-0. The only blemish came in the 88th minute with an own goal from Matthijs de Ligt.
In the day’s other match, West Ham United came from behind to defeat Everton 2-1. Idrissa Gueye gave Everton the lead in the 17th minute, but Lucas Paqueta equalized just before halftime, and Niclas Füllkrug scored the winner in the 64th minute.
Everton manager David Moyes expressed concern over his team’s form, noting the lack of key players during the US tour.
“At the moment, we’re not ready to perform well enough in this tournament,” Moyes admitted. “We’re not ready to start the Premier League season.”
The four-team tournament concludes Sunday in Atlanta, where Manchester United will face Everton, and West Ham will play Bournemouth.
