In response to pressure from US President Donald Trump, Apple opens a training academy

Apple is trying to ease pressure from US President Donald Trump to create more jobs for citizens. Therefore, the company has established an academy to train Americans in phone manufacturing and the use of artificial intelligence, according to a CNBC report.
The new academy, which is run by Michigan State University due to its location in Detroit, will offer a series of workshops on AI technologies and the manufacturing of both phones and hardware, according to the report.
The academy is expected to begin operations next August, offering several workshops in its fields to small and medium-sized companies, some of which will be taught by Apple engineers.
This move is part of Apple’s plan to invest $500 billion in the United States over the next five years, as announced by CEO Tim Cook last February.
The company’s plan includes building AI servers in Houston and purchasing chips from TSMC’s new US factories, but this apparently isn’t satisfactory to the president, according to the report. Although Trump praised this plan in February when it was first announced, he continued to pressure the company to manufacture iPhones internally, to the point that he described the issue as a “small problem” with Cook, according to the report.
Trump asserted in a live statement broadcast by CNBC at the time that Cook was spending $500 billion in the United States and expanding its phone manufacturing operations in India to circumvent restrictions and taxes on China.
It’s worth noting that this academy is the only one of its kind affiliated with Apple worldwide. The company has 18 other academies spread across several countries, including Saudi Arabia and South Korea, but these are programming and development academies, according to the report.
Apple added that it provides consulting services through the academy’s programs to small and medium-sized companies, with expectations of serving 200 students annually and offering remote programs in the near future, according to the report.
