Trump Ally Marjorie Taylor Greene Decries ‘Genocide’ in Gaza

The right-wing congresswoman condemns the ‘starvation happening in Gaza’ and criticizes pro-Israel colleague Randy Fine.

Washington, DC – United States Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, a staunch right-wing ally of former President Donald Trump, has accused Israel of committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza—highlighting growing divisions within the Republican Party.

In a recent social media post, Greene condemned the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza, where an Israeli-imposed blockade and bombing campaign have contributed to widespread starvation, reportedly killing over 120 people in recent weeks.

She also took aim at fellow Republican lawmaker Randy Fine, who has openly supported Israel’s actions in Gaza and appeared to dismiss Palestinian suffering.

“It’s the most truthful and easiest thing to say that October 7 in Israel was horrific and all hostages must be returned—but so is the genocide, humanitarian crisis, and starvation happening in Gaza,” Greene wrote.

Her remarks echo conclusions by leading human rights organizations and UN experts, who have said Israel’s actions may constitute genocide—a term defined by the United Nations as acts committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group.

According to humanitarian monitors, Israel’s ongoing military campaign has killed more than 60,000 people and devastated Gaza’s infrastructure, leaving much of the territory in ruins.

Few U.S. lawmakers have directly accused Israel of genocide, making Greene’s statement particularly noteworthy. Criticism of Israel’s conduct has primarily come from progressive Democrats; Greene, however, is a prominent figure in the pro-Trump “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) movement.

Growing Outrage Over Blockade

The Israeli blockade on Gaza—restricting food, water, medicine, and other essentials—has come under increasing international scrutiny. Harrowing images of malnourished children and reports of widespread hunger have intensified calls for accountability in U.S. politics.

Last week, Democratic Congressman John Garamendi also suggested that Israel’s actions may amount to genocide.

“It’s impossible to look at the starvation caused by Israel’s dangerous and willful failure to enable humanitarian aid and not see a genocide being committed against the people of Palestine,” Garamendi said.

Randy Fine’s Controversial Comments

Congressman Randy Fine, a newly elected Republican with strong backing from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), sparked outrage last week when he appeared to justify the starvation in Gaza.

“Release the hostages. Until then, starve away,” Fine wrote in a social media post, dismissing the crisis as “Muslim terror propaganda.”

Fine has a history of inflammatory rhetoric. In 2021, he responded to a photo of a dead Palestinian child by saying, “Quite well, actually! Thanks for the pic!” when asked how he slept at night.

In another incident, he praised the killing of U.S. activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi by the Israeli military in the West Bank, tweeting:

“Throw rocks, get shot. One less #MuslimTerrorist. #FireAway.”

Earlier this month, top House Democrats denounced Fine as “unhinged, racist, and Islamophobic” following his verbal attack on Muslim American Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. Responding to her criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Washington, Fine wrote:

“I’m sure it is difficult to see us welcome the killer of so many of your fellow Muslim terrorists.”

Even some of Israel’s strongest supporters in the U.S. condemned Fine’s recent comments. The American Jewish Committee (AJC) issued a rare rebuke:

“Implying that starvation is a legitimate tactic is unacceptable. All those in need of humanitarian aid should receive it promptly and safely. Our leaders must focus less on scoring political points and more on doing their jobs,” the AJC said in a statement.

Greene, for her part, warned that such rhetoric could fuel anti-Semitism.

“That awful statement will actually cause more anti-Semitism,” she said, referring to Fine’s post.
