Mumbai, October  – In a move that has sent waves of excitement through his global fanbase, Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan has announced a special cinematic extravaganza: the ‘Shah Rukh Khan Film Festival.’ This curated event is designed to take audiences on a nostalgic journey through his illustrious career, with large-scale screenings set to unfold across India and in select international theatres.

The initiative promises to give fans, both old and new, a chance to relive the magic of SRK’s most iconic and beloved performances on the grand canvas where they belong—the silver screen.

A Heartfelt Announcement

The ‘King of Bollywood’ made the announcement in his signature, poetic style on Friday. Taking to his official Instagram handle, the Dilwale actor shared a heartfelt video message reflecting on his enduring love affair with cinema. The accompanying caption was a classic SRK-ism, blending humility with his trademark charm.

“Main kaun hoon, kaun nahi… doesn’t really matter, as long as the lights, camera, and a little bit of love are still rolling,” he wrote. “See you at the #ShahRukhKhanFilmFestival starting today.”

A Cinematic Journey Across Decades

The festival, which kicks off immediately, is not just a random assortment of films but a carefully curated selection that showcases the incredible range and evolution of the superstar. The line-up is a veritable treasure trove for cinephiles, spanning genres from intense romance and heartfelt drama to high-octane action and beloved classics.

The confirmed films for the Indian leg of the festival include:

  • Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1994): The beloved early-career gem that showcases SRK’s endearing, boy-next-door charm.

  • Dil Se.. (1998): Mani Ratnam’s epic, tragic romance that features some of SRK’s most intense and passionate work.

  • Devdas (2002): Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s opulent magnum opus, a landmark of Indian cinema that earned SRK critical acclaim worldwide.

  • Main Hoon Na (2004): A masala entertainer that perfectly blends action, comedy, and emotion, directed by Farah Khan.

  • Om Shanti Om (2007): A spectacular reincarnation drama that is both a tribute to and a satire of the Hindi film industry.

  • Chennai Express (2013): The record-breaking Rohit Shetty action-comedy that became one of the highest-grossing Indian films of its time.

  • Jawan (2023): His recent blockbuster that reaffirmed his undisputed box office supremacy and connected with a new generation of fans.

A Global Celebration for a Global Star

True to SRK’s status as a global icon, the celebration extends far beyond India’s borders. The festival is a massive collaborative effort between major cinema chains and studios.

  • In India: The festival will be hosted in association with PVR INOX, reaching over 75 cinemas in more than 30 cities nationwide. Select Cinepolis screens will also participate, ensuring a wide reach for audiences across the country.

  • Internationally: Yash Raj Films’ International division will manage the global rollout, bringing these iconic films back to theatres in key international markets. This includes the Middle East, North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

A Fitting Prelude to a Landmark Birthday

This grand two-week film festival serves as a fitting prelude to a major milestone in the superstar’s life—his 60th birthday on November 2nd. Rather than a single event, the festival is a prolonged celebration of his contributions to cinema, allowing fans to immerse themselves in the stories and characters that have made him a household name for over three decades.

With this initiative, Shah Rukh Khan isn’t just showcasing his films; he is inviting the world to celebrate the shared joy, love, and larger-than-life dreams that his cinema has inspired for generations. As the lights dim and the projectors roll, theatres worldwide are set to once again echo with the cheers for their beloved King Khan.
