Even more surreal, in a White House meeting only months ago, General Munir himself boasted that his government would nominate Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize,. The same general who threatened nuclear catastrophe now dares to present himself as a promoter of peace. It was not diplomacy but farce, a performance so cynical it would be laughable if it were not insulting to every victim of Pakistan’s endless wars.

Afghanistan: Recycling Warlords, Recycling Corruption

Now, with the Taliban unwilling to serve as the obedient proxy Rawalpindi envisioned, Munir is turning back to the failed Afghan warlords of the past,sectarian strongmen whose corruption and brutality bled Afghanistan for decades.
