At the World Swimming Championships in Singapore, Summer McIntosh remains on course for her fourth gold medal, qualifying fastest in the 400m individual medley heats. Chinese 12-year-old Yu Zidi impressed by qualifying third, just shy of her personal best.

Leon Marchand, world record holder and Olympic champion, barely made the final, qualifying seventh after slowing down in the latter half of his heat. Still, he’s favored to win his third 400m world title.

Notably, the U.S. failed to qualify a swimmer in the men’s 400 IM final for the first time in over 50 years, following Carson Foster’s withdrawal due to injury. Defending champion Lewis Clareburt of New Zealand also failed to qualify.

In relay events, the U.S. men and women both qualified fastest in the 4×100 medley relay. However, Olympic champions China and Australia missed out on the men’s final.

In the evening session, eight gold medals are up for grabs. Key highlights include Germany’s Florian Wellbrock targeting gold in the 1,500m freestyle, and Ruta Meilutyte of Lithuania aiming for her fourth straight 50m breaststroke world title.
