On Wednesday, Google held its annual Made by Google event to unveil the next generation of its consumer devices—from smartphones to wireless earbuds and smartwatches—alongside a host of new AI-powered features for its phones.
The event featured appearances from media celebrities, including talk show host Jimmy Fallon, singer Nick Jonas, and Formula 1 driver Lando Norris.
The focus was largely on new artificial intelligence features built into Google’s devices, along with hardware upgrades across its product lineup. Here are the key announcements:
Pixel 10 Pro Fold
Google’s new foldable phone debuts with IP68 dust and water resistance, making it the first foldable device in the world with this level of protection.
The company has significantly reduced the bezel size, allowing for a slightly larger 6.4-inch external display while keeping the internal screen at 8 inches.
It runs on Google’s latest Tensor G5 processor, manufactured by TSMC rather than Samsung as in previous generations.
The device supports the Qi2 wireless charging standard up to 15W and includes the new Pixel Snap magnetic accessory system, in line with other Pixel 10 devices.
Pricing starts at $1,800, available in silver and green, with retail availability beginning October 9.
Pixel 10 Pro
Google also introduced its next-generation flagship phones, the Pixel 10 Pro in two sizes: a standard 6.3-inch model and a larger 6.8-inch Pixel 10 Pro XL.
Both feature the Tensor G5 chip, 16GB RAM, and wireless charging (15W for the Pro, 25W for the Pro XL).
Google has dropped the 128GB base storage option for the Pro XL, starting instead at 256GB for $1,120 from August 28, while the standard Pixel 10 Pro starts at $999.
Pixel 10
For the first time, Google has added a third rear camera to its more affordable Pixel 10, bringing it closer to the Pro lineup.
The triple-lens system includes a 48MP main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide, and a 10.8MP telephoto lens.
It is powered by the Tensor G5, supports wireless charging, and features the new Pixel Snap magnetic system for accessories.
The Pixel 10 starts at $799 and will be available from August 28, with pre-orders opening earlier. Color options include light blue, light green, black, and gray.
Pixel Snap Magnetic System
Google’s new Pixel Snap technology enables magnetic attachment of accessories, including Qi2-compatible wireless chargers.
The company unveiled a range of accessories built on this standard, echoing Apple’s MagSafe system with its own lineup of magnetic charging docks and attachments.
New Accessories
The event also introduced:
-
The new Pixel Watch with a domed screen design that increases display area by 10% while reducing bezel size by 16%. Available in 41mm and 45mm, starting at $349 on October 9.
-
The Pixel Buds 2A, affordable wireless earbuds with AI features and active noise cancellation, priced at $130.
-
An update to the Pixel Buds Pro 2, which will gain new AI-powered features later this year.
