The National Statistics and Information Authority announced that, based on a recent decision, including women’s photos in electronic ID cards is not mandatory and will be done on an optional basis.
Mohammad Halim Rafi, the spokesperson for the National Statistics and Information Authority, announced that based on a recent decision, including women’s photos in electronic ID cards has become optional.
In an audio message, Rafi said that the issue of optional photos for women was first referred to the leadership, which then forwarded it to the Central Dar al-Ifta for review and a final decision.
According to him, after examination, the Central Dar al-Ifta declared that in the process of issuing electronic ID cards, women’s photos are not mandatory and will be included only on a voluntary basis.
