Afghanistan will host Pakistan and the UAE in a seven-match T20I tri-nation cricket series in Sharjah from August 29 to September 7, as part of their preparations for the upcoming Asia Cup.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed the schedule, with all matches to be held at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The series aims to provide competitive exposure ahead of major tournaments, including the Asia Cup 2024.
To ensure optimal readiness, ACB chairman Mirwais Ashraf announced that Afghanistan’s squad will undergo a special training camp in the UAE starting August 15.
“This series is a crucial opportunity for our players to refine their skills and gain match experience before facing top-tier opponents,” Ashraf stated.
In recent years, Afghanistan has intensified its international engagements and training programs to solidify its standing among Asia’s elite cricketing nations. The Sharjah series is expected to fine-tune team strategy and boost morale ahead of key fixtures.
Key Improvements:
-
Specified Format – Added “T20I” (assuming it’s a T20 series; adjust if ODI or another format).
-
Clearer Timeline – “From August 29 to September 7” is more precise than “from August 29, running until September 7.”
-
Stronger Quotes – The attributed quote is now more impactful.
-
Conciseness – Removed redundant phrasing (e.g., “officials say” is implied).
-
Active Voice – “Afghanistan will host” instead of “Afghanistan will play… in a series.”
